ROLE: Clerk of Works

PAY RATE: £ 262.37 per day PAYE

JOB TYPE: 6 Months contract

LOCATION: London, UK (WC1V)

HOURS: 37.50 hours per week


THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:
  • Act as clients on-site representative and support the Project Manager throughout project delivery.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure work is completed safely, on time, to specification, and in line with quality standards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and monitor contractor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, RAMS, permits, isolations, and clients SHEQ procedures.
  • Identify risks, delays, and quality issues, escalating them to the Project Manager where required.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Support inspections, snagging, testing, handover documentation, and project completion.
  • Produce accurate site reports and maintain clear records of progress, issues, and decisions.

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in M&E, Facilities Management (FM), construction, or a similar technical environment.
  • Experience overseeing projects from delivery through to completion.
  • Good understanding of construction Health & Safety and CDM Regulations.
  • Recognised technical qualification in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, or similar, or 5+ years' relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, site inspections, and contractor management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports and manage project documentation.
  • Able to travel between project sites within London and be flexible if occasional out-of-hours work is required.
