LOCATION: Falmer, BN1
PAY RATE: £17 per hour PAYE
CONTRACT: Contract from September to December | 37.5 Hours per Week
THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Handyperson to support facilities maintenance activities across the site for one of the big Facilities management client there. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), statutory compliance checks, and reactive maintenance tasks across multiple sites. A company vehicle and tools will be provided, and participation in an on-call rota is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks.
Complete fire door inspections in line with compliance requirements.
Undertake water hygiene (L8) checks and associated maintenance tasks.
Conduct emergency lighting inspections and testing.
Attend and complete reactive maintenance tasks as required.
Perform basic plumbing repairs and general building maintenance activities.
Carry out painting and decorating works.
Repair minor safety hazards and building fabric defects.
Install furniture, equipment, appliances, and machinery.
Support desk moves, office relocations, and meeting room setups.
Manage deliveries and move materials where required.
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of common areas, plant rooms, and storage areas.
Monitor stock levels and support ordering processes when necessary.
Ensure maintenance records and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
Comply with all company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience as a Handyperson, Maintenance Operative, or within a Facilities Maintenance role.
Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
Basic plumbing and general building maintenance skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage workload priorities.
Good understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Previous experience working within a facilities Management environment.
Knowledge of fire door inspections and compliance requirements.
Experience carrying out water hygiene (L8) checks.
Experience completing emergency lighting inspections and testing.
Basic painting and decorating experience.
Familiarity with CAFM systems and electronic maintenance records.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
On-call rota of approximately 1 week in every 5 weeks.
Additional retainer and call-out payments available whilst on-call.
Company vehicle and tools provided.
