Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

ROLE: Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

PAY RATE: £ 15.89 - £ 16.92 PAYE

JOB TYPE: 3 Months contract

LOCATION: Glasgow, UK (G21)

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week - 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM

THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems, emergency lighting, generators, and building services equipment.
  • Respond to faults or breakdowns quickly to minimise disruption to hospital operations.
  • Complete maintenance reports, test certificates, and documentation after work is carried out.
  • Follow health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Assist with minor electrical installation works and improvement projects.
  • Work closely with facilities managers, colleagues, and NHS staff to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to provide 24/7 maintenance cover when required.

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
  • Completed a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship with certification.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in electrical maintenance or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and building services maintenance.
  • Ability to work safely following health & safety and compliance regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle, as the role requires participation in an on-call rota.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rota and occasional overtime.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
