Maintenance electrician

ROLE: Maintenance electrician
PAY RATE: £ 20.00 per hour PAYE, £ 39k per annum
JOB TYPE: 3 Months contract
LOCATION: Glasgow, UK (G21)
HOURS: 37.50 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 08:00 AM to 16:30 PM
THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance on systems such as lighting, generators, fire alarms, AHUs, water and medical gas systems.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency faults in line with SLA requirements.
- Perform minor installation and project works, including variations and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, permits to work, and statutory regulations (e.g., SHTM guidelines).
- Prepare and complete risk assessments, method statements, and permits-to-work.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and test certificates (electronic and manual).
- Liaise with Facilities Team Leaders, clients (NHS), and contractors regarding repairs, failures, and service delivery.
- Use and maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas safely and effectively.
- Participate in on-call rota to provide 24/7 support and attend emergency callouts.
- Support continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to maintenance routines and systems.
- Undertake training and development, including working towards Appointed Person (Low Voltage) responsibilities.
Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
- Completed recognised electrical apprenticeship with relevant certification.
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in electrical maintenance role.
- Experience in building services or facilities maintenance (hospital preferred).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and risk assessment procedures.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work systems and compliance standards (SHTM, L8, etc.).
- Basic first aid/CPR knowledge (or willingness to obtain).
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work on-call, overtime, and travel when required.
