ROLE: Site Supervisor

PAY RATE: £ 300 per day CIS

JOB TYPE: 4 Months contract

LOCATION: Manchester, UK (M13) - Manchester Joint Hospitals, Oxford Road, Manchester, Greater Manchester UK M13 9WL

HOURS: 40:00 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:00 AM to 04:30 PM

THE ROLE:
Main duties & responsibilities:
  • Supervise day-to-day site activities, subcontractors, and specialist contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate labour, materials, equipment, and project activities while minimising disruption to hospital services and patient care.
  • Manage the Permit to Work process, ensuring permits, RAMS, and all contractor documentation are reviewed, approved, and compliant before work begins.
  • Monitor project progress, maintain site records, conduct inspections, and report delays, risks, incidents, or safety concerns to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, HTM/HBN guidance, Trust policies, infection prevention procedures, and all health and safety legislation.
  • Liaise with NHS Trust representatives, project managers, clinical teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to maintain effective communication throughout the project.
  • Carry out contractor inductions, site safety inspections, audits, and ensure corrective actions are completed where required.
  • Support planned and emergency works, including occasional evening, night, and weekend supervision when operationally required.

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a Project Site Supervisor, Site Manager, Construction Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, FM Supervisor, or similar site-based project delivery role.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations 2015, Safe Systems of Work, and contractor management.
  • Experience managing Permit to Work systems, reviewing RAMS, contractor documentation, and coordinating site compliance activities.
  • Good understanding of HTM/HBN standards, infection prevention procedures, or the ability to quickly develop knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management or CAFM software.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (or equivalent).
  • First Aid at Work certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, nights, and weekends when required.
  • Full UK driving licence (where travel between project sites is required).
  • Desirable: Experience working within NHS hospitals, PFI/PPP environments, or other live operational facilities.
  • Desirable: Experience managing the full Permit to Work lifecycle using Maximo or equivalent CAFM systems.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of NHS Estates and Facilities guidance.
  • Desirable: Project Management qualification (e.g. APM Foundation), IOSH Managing Safely, or NEBOSH General Certificate.
